How to change the country for the GSuite to Google Workspace upgrade
2022 did not begin with good news for many of us. Users of the G Suite were grandfathered in with a free plan that allowed free email services with a custom domain, among other features. Everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked... I mean when Google announced it will no longer be the case.
I've been happily using G Suite myself for this domain, bogdanbucur.eu, and let me tell you, I was not pleased with the news. On the other hand, Google's service has been exemplary for me and after many years of benefiting from it for free, I reluctantly agreed to switch over to the paid version.
There was just one problem: on the checkout page it was presumed I was living in the United States and there was no option to change the country. And without the correct address it was difficult to set up the billing details.
Turning to the Internet seemed like a dead end. The closest thing I found for an answer was on this thread Google workspace billing country, where it was suggested to contact the Google support. I ended up doing just that and let me tell you: not only I reached a real person on the chat very fast, he was also very helpful.
To my shame, the answer was embarrasing: turns out in the second screen of the upgrade page, the one before the one where you enter your checkout details, there is a select box in the top right corner from where you can choose your country and currency.
I'm not sure why this is not more visible in Google's documentation but there you have it.
